Dole Plantation

Wahiawa, Hawaii

One of the first places I visited in Hawaii was the Dole Plantation. It was recommended by the rental car agent at the airport as a must-see attraction for someone new to Hawaii, and although it seemed to be a tourist trap (and in a sense it was), it turned out to be worth a visit. I really enjoyed the pineapple ice cream they served as well as some of treats the sold in the gift shop (definitely check out the pineapple cashews). The tour consisted of a miniature train ride in which the types of plants they grew were showcased. These included pineapple, cacao, coffee, sugar cane, lime, avocado, and many more. It was an informative tour set in a picturesque landscape, and made for a fun introductory tour of Oahu.
