Before leaving Florida, I was hoping to get one more Latin-inspired meal in South Florida. Since Cuba Libre had good ratings and one of my favorite sandwiches is a Cubano, it seemed like the place to try. It ended up exceeding expectations! The outdoor patio seating was enjoyable, and the food was incredible. The Cubano sandwich came with a small salad, plantain crisps and a helping of refried beans, all of which were delicious. The service was prompt and friendly, and the location was desirable in downtown Fort Lauderdale amongst plenty of stores and restaurants. It was only after the meal that I found out it was actually a chain, though it seems reasonable to assume that the cuisine would be more authentic in South Florida than in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, it seems as of 6/24/24, Cuba Libre has closed and is being replaced by a wine bar (because of course it is 🙄).
