Casa Botín was an amazing experience. Founded in 1725, the Guinness Book of World Records has declared it to be the oldest restaurant continuously in existence. In fact, the oven they use is the original oven with the original tile work intact. Though the oven is nearing 300 years old, it still cooks each meal to culinary perfection. We had a smorgasbord of food during our visit to Botín, including cheese, stuffed mushrooms, roast suckling pig, and a chocolate tart. Each course of the meal was tremendous. And if the meal wasn't enough, we had a personalized tour of the restaurant which included the historic wine cellar and kitchen (with the original "horno") and sat in Ernest Hemingway's favorite seat! Our tour guide, Jorge, was wonderful and gave us the full history of the restaurant as well as all of the interesting tidbits that have accumulated over 300 years of fine dining. The tour is the best way to experience Botín for the first time, and is definitely recommended!
